In the spiritual ecology of Noragami, a shikigami is not merely a tool but a living minor god bound to a greater deity through a bond of service and shared faith. Kofuku was shaped by Yato into this role, and his singular eye is the outward signature of that shaping. Where other shikigami might manifest as weapons or beasts, Kofuku's power is concentrated in perception: his eye can detect the lingering traces of unfulfilled wishes, the cold pull of unresolved grudges, and the faint auras of other spirits that would be invisible to the naked human eye. This makes him Yato's first line of detection in the field, often spotting a problem before Yato himself registers it.

The eye also serves as a focal point for Kofuku's limited combat output. In moments of genuine threat to Yato or to a human in their care, Kofuku can project a concentrated burst of spiritual energy through his eye, though the effort visibly exhausts him and his small frame trembles afterward. His timidity is not mere personality; it reflects the genuine vulnerability of a minor god whose power is narrow and whose body is fragile. He relies on Yato's protection and on the steadier presence of Bishamonten, the sword-wielding shikigami, to cover the gaps his single-eye ability cannot fill.

Across the story, Kofuku's eye remains a constant: it does not transform, upgrade, or split into multiple forms the way some shikigami weapons evolve. Its consistency is part of his character. Kofuku's single eye widened to the size of a dinner plate, the iris flickering between gold and a deep, uneasy violet as he tracked the cold thread of a lingering wish that had curdled into something mean. He pressed his small hands together, knuckles white, and whispered, "Yato-sama, there's— there's something in the wall. It's looking back." Yato, already pulling his phone from his pocket to log the job, didn't even turn around. "Then look at it properly, Kofuku. You're the one with the big eye." Kofuku's eye squeezed shut, then snapped open again, and this time he did not blink. The thing in the wall hissed. Kofuku did not run.

In combat or defense, he can channel a short, concentrated pulse of divine energy outward through the eye, enough to repel or stagger a low-level spirit, but the expenditure leaves him visibly drained and trembling.

Limits and costs: The ability is narrow in scope. Kofuku cannot see across vast distances, cannot track multiple high-level threats simultaneously, and the projection of energy is a one-time or low-frequency use before he needs to recover.
